Nutella Party!

I was so excited when I was chosen to host a MommyParty for Nutella. When the kit came I was SUPER impressed! There were so many great things including a HUGE container of Nutella for everyone to try, lots of great recipes, samples for everyone, special spreaders, coupons, and great travel mugs!

A lot of the ladies had already tried Nutella and some were HUGE fans, but others had never even heard of it. I think this was a great way to spread the word about Nutella how many different ways you can use it. Most people had never thought about it for breakfast, but after seeing all of the great recipes they realized what a good idea it was! Everyone knows how important it is to have breakfast, but sometimes it's hard to find something that is quick and easy AND tastes good. How much easier can spreading a little Nutella on a whole wheat english muffin or toast and pouring a glass of milk be?

I'm really disappointed that I forgot my camera, because I would have loved to at least get a picture of everyone posing with their travel mugs and spreaders ;) Oh well, that's what pregnancy brain does to me!

I hope all the other hostesses and party attenders had as much fun as we did!

Why would someone deliberately post/say something SO incredibly hurtful to someone? I know that on the internet a lot of people suddenly develop the bollocks to say something that they would NEVER say in person but shouldn't that be part of a normal person's internal filter? Shouldn't you ask yourself before posting "Would I actually say this to the person's face?"

Steroid shots and baby bedding

Anyone had steroid shots before to help baby's lungs develop? I'm 28 weeks and had my first round today (well the first shot, shot two will be tomorrow) and my goodness my hip/back hurts!!! You know more than usual lol

On a happier note, Lily's baby bedding arrived yesterday!!! It was a Christmas present from her uncle and we LOVE it!!! The only thing we're missing is the quilt (I want to hang it up for decoration until she's old enough to use it) and the throw pillow.

Hayley Nursery Bedding Set

All I need to do is make the decorations for her room and swap it out with David's stuff (he's getting a big boy room) and we'll be all set! I know she won't be in the nursery at first so we do have time, but I'm still getting excited!

Since I'm 7 months pregnant and on bedrest for the past 6 weeks, I've been spending a lot of time online shopping, mainly at CSN stores. It's been a very cold winter and we have a very active little boy so I find myself gravitating to outdoor play items like swingsets. I can't imagine how excited he would be if he got something like this for his birthday this spring!!

LONG Overdue Review!

I had the opportunity to review another product from CSN Stores and I chose the KidCo Center Gateway Pressure Mount Safety Gate in White and it is exactly what we were looking for!

Now one reason that this review has taken long than normal is (not only because of the pregnancy complications) but because of some shipping and delivery issues. This was in NO way CSN's fault!! When I e-mailed them to let them know that the first gate arrived damaged in an open box and was missing parts they were quick to fix it! The customer service was absolutely fantastic! A replacement gate was on the way before I knew it! This just confirms for me what a wonderful company they really are!

The gate itself is fantastic. The quality is great and it makes life SO much easier! We use the stairs all the time so our old gate (which was about 20 years old and falling apart) just wasn't cutting it. This gate pressure mounts to the wall and spindles (with an additional spindle gate mount pack) and is super secure! The best part is that all we have to do is open the door and walk through to go upstairs. No removing the gate or trying to step over it anymore.

I do want to apologize to CSN Stores for taking so long to complete this review and once again thank them for excellent customer service!

Forever

I know it's been forever since I blogged. I've been having some pregnancy complications so I haven't been on the computer much recently. Now that I'm stuck on bedrest for a while I might actually be on more often, I hope! So far, I'm not a fan of bedrest. Sure relaxing is nice, but I don't like being forced to relaxed when there's stuff I need to do around here. Our Christmas decorations are still up, the house is a mess, laundry needs to be done. Thankfully my in-laws are coming tomorrow, but I'd like for the house to be at least semi-clean before they get here but I know they won't mind and they understand that it's not going to be perfect. I really hope I don't have to be on bedrest for long, I think I'll go crazy if I do!

AMMO Winter Kids Releases Review

David is a serious little reader already. Even though he's only 17 months old he usually prefers for Mommy or Daddy to read him a book to anything else! It's not unusual for him to grab book after book off "his" bookshelf and bring them over to one of us to read to him. Now he's getting to the point where he'll just sit down with a book and "read" to himself (which is my favorite, so cute!).

When we received the latest book from AMMO, ABC IS FOR CIRCUS by Patrick Hruby, David was so excited! It's full of bright colors, fun illustrations, and it's also educational! He just sat there for a while pointing at the pictures saying "Ooooo" over and over again!

Here's a brief description from their site:

ABC IS FOR CIRCUS celebrates the colorful and festive world of the circus through each letter of the alphabet. Young children will enjoy memorizing letters and words like A is for Acrobats, B is for Big Top, and C is for Calliope in this imaginative chunky board book. We also received the Charley Harper Nesting Blocks and I had NO idea how much David would love them! As soon as I pulled them out of the box, he started clapping. Then I sat on the floor and stacked them up, of course he immediately knocked them over and was VERY proud of himself! Then he started trying to nest them back all by himself and actually did a pretty good job. I can already tell this set of Nesting Blocks is becoming a fast favorite.

The only thing that concerns me is if he discovers the areas on the corners where the paper comes together, he loves to rip things, but hopefully he won't figure that he could probably peel the paper off the boxes fairly easily ;)

These are super cute blocks and I love that they are covered in letters, numbers and words so David can learn as he plays!

Hevea Star & Moon Orthodontic Pacifier Review

My son loves his pacifiers. Right now he just uses them at night and naptime and we only use natural rubber orthodontic pacis which are kind of hard to come by. When I saw that Hevea was coming out with these new pacis I was thrilled!! If you know what normal natural rubber pacis look like they are kind of big, round and clunky. They always touch my son's nose and can sometimes leave a funny little red mark. The Hevea pacifiers are different. They have a contoured shape that dips below the nose so no more funny little red mark!

I love the little cutouts on the pacifiers too! They have quite a few different options. We received the Star & Moon version, but they also have cars, crowns and flowers. All of them are adorable! We will definitely have to get our little girl a few with flowers!

The ONLY thing I would change about these is the availability in larger stores, but I'm sure that will come as their popularity increases! CSN Stores - Le Creuset Review

First of all, I'm so sorry I disappeared for a while. I have been SICK! This pregnancy has really thrown me for a loop for some reason, but things seem to be getting better. Of course now I have some sort of virus that my son picked up from the church nursery and passed on to me, but nothing I can't deal with ;)

ANYWAY!!!!

I LOVE doing reviews for CSN Stores. They have wonderful products and always ship super fast! This time I got to review a set of Le Creuset Stoneware.

I chose the cherry color and got two wonderful dishes! One is 10.5" x 7" which is perfect for a small batch of brownies or cornbread. Really anything that would normally fit in an 8x8 or 9x9 pan fits great. The second dish is 7"x5" and honestly I haven't used it yet, but it is just adorable!

The quality is just fantastic and it arrived MUCH sooner than I expected! At the time the website said that it would take 4-6 weeks to arrive, which I didn't mind since that meant I could use them for Christmas, but less than a week later I got the shipping notice! Woohoo!! They were packaged REALLY well. I'm talking very well padded! Nothing was happening to those babies lol

Here are some pictures of brownies and cornbread. They cooked so evenly I was really impressed! Our oven tends to have issues cooking evenly, but for some reason I didn't have any problems when using this baking dish.

It's probably a little late to order these for Thanksgiving, but if you're looking for new cookware definitely check these out from CSN Stores!! They Have lots of different colors and free shipping!!

BumGenius 4.0 Artist Series - Review

OK so the new Artist Series from BumGenius seems to be a love it or hate it line. Personally I LOVE them! I'm a huge fan of geometric and abstract patterns and I really don't like typical "baby" patterns on diapers. Weird huh? So when these came out I was thrilled!

I ordered the JetSetter for David before reading the color description because it looks like light blue on dark blue, but the website says it's purple and blue. I was a little worried after the color description was posted, but I'm not seeing the purple even in person. Honestly, I think it could easily work for a boy or girl. When I got a shipping notification almost a MONTH before I expected it, I was shocked and sooo excited! When it arrived I was not disappointed! It is even cuter in person than it is online!

It arrived well packaged with minimal waste, which I think is very important considering one reason a lot of people cloth diaper is to reduce waste. I'm always shocked at diapers that arrive sealed in individual thick plastic baggies or large heavy cardboard boxes. What's the point?? This packaging is perfect. It gives all the information needed on a simple fold over thin cardstock wrapper.

The fit, like all of his bumGenius diapers, was of course perfect. I was really happy because I had never bought a one-size diaper from bumGenius. We have quite a few of the sized AIO's because they are the Hubby's and the grandparents' favorite ;) David even seemed to like the diaper. Before I put it on him, he sat holding it and tracing the pattern like it was a maze.

Overall, this is one of my new favorite pocket diapers! I can't wait to see what the other Artist Series will look like in the future! I might just have to go through and sell some of my least favorite diapers to make room for some more of these!

CSN Stores - Just a little tease...

When we moved into our house a little over a year ago it was just about perfect for us and we still love it but we're about to have to make some changes. Some little like adding a bar stool or three to the kitchen counter

and some a little bigger like completely redoing the guest room and turning it in to a "big boy" room for our son.

I love CSN and I always look forward to review their products or hosting giveaways. Currently we are in the middle of getting stuff together for David's "Big Boy" room that he will be moving in to sometime in the next few months.

I have no idea what has happened. I had a few posts saved and THOUGHT I had them set up to post but apparently I didn't. I just now noticed that nothing had posted so I went to check and they're gone :-( Boo! I'm sure it was my fault and I just did something wrong, but it's very sad and somewhat annoying. Oh well! Teething has been interesting with David. He is a teething machine! Apparently he didn't take note of any of the eruption charts in the doctors office or on the internet because once his teeth started coming in they never stopped! At 15 months old he is just lacking two upper teeth and those nasty two year molars.

Sleepwear Difficulties...

Am I the only person to have this problem?? I can't find decently priced maternity sleepwear anywhere! It's getting colder at night so I would LOVE to find a long nightgown that's full enough to accommodate a soon-to-be growing belly and cute enough so I don't look like a granny or overstuffed lumpy flannel body pillow.

So far, all I've been able to find are delivery/hospital gowns and short nursing gowns. Now nursing gowns are great and can be used longer than just a plain old maternity gown, BUT most of them don't look like they're cut full enough to contain a fully pregnant belly without busting at the seams. I've seen a few pants/shirts, but I'm not really a pj pant/shirt sleeper. I'm more comfortable in an over-sized t-shirt or plain old nightgown.

I know, I know...why don't I just make my own? Well, honestly I just don't want to. I mean I could but I know it wouldn't turn out the way I want it to so I would just have to keep looking anyway so what's the point?

Anyone have any suggestions as to where I could find a cute cold weather appropriate maternity nightgown?? I hope someone can help me out!

I was looking through some old pictures and posts today and realized that I've never posted a review about FuzziBuns OS diapers. I am a HUGE fan! These diapers are wonderful! Now that David can easily rip off diapers with hook & loop closures they are one of my go to diapers and I really do wish I had more! One of my favorites is the Big Sky color. It is a beautiful light but vibrant blue.

I'm really not a big fan of a lot of "one size" diapers because they usually have outside snaps and are pretty bulky. The FuzziBunz has button-adjusted waist and leg casings which make things so much easier. Adjust them when needed and you don't have to worry about changing or resetting them until your little one grows. They also come with replacement elastic so if it does happen to wear down (none of ours has yet) you have a backup set to swap out with.

The FuzziBunz have such a trim fit, but they are so absorbent it's really amazing! The one size also come with an extra insert for naptime or overnight use. If you haven't tried FuzziBunz yet, go check them out! You'll love them!

Nine Weeks

I’m nine weeks pregnant and I don’t usually use this word because it’s a very strong word, but I hate this stage of pregnancy. It’s not the morning sickness, the sore boobs or the weird aches and stabbing pains from a growing uterus. It’s the unknown; the fact that right now there’s no way for me to know if the baby is doing ok. It’s been two weeks since my last appointment and there’s a little over two weeks until my next one. This is the stage where you don’t look pregnant, you don’t really feel pregnant (other than the aforementioned symptoms), you probably haven’t gained any weight (although you might feel bloated), you can’t feel the baby moving around, and there’s no way of knowing that everything is still going well. I don’t mean that I’m overly worried or paranoid about the pregnancy; I’m just ready to be able to feel the baby move so I know everything is OK!

I just saw a post from That Crazy Lewis House on facebook asking about favorite soup recipes and it REALLY makes me long for cool weather! I sent her this recipe for Taco Soup and thought I'd share it on here too because it's super simple and ever so yummy!

Taco Soup
1 pound lean ground beef (or ground turkey), brown and drain
1-15.5 ounce can navy beans, undrained
1-15.5 ounce can kidney beans, undrained
1-15.5 ounce can black beans, undrained
1-15.5 ounce can red chili beans, undrained
1-15.5 ounce can corn, undrained
1 (or 2) -14.5 ounce cans diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can Rotelle tomatoes
1 envelope Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
1 envelope taco seasoning
2 cups chicken broth

Dump everything in the crock pot (bean liquid and all!). Cook on low all day. Serve with cornbread or sour cream, cheese and tortilla chips.

Tonight we were all playing in David's room and Ginger decided to go get a toy. As soon as she left the room David went and shut the door most of the way, but was peeking out the crack to see when she got back. He opened the door just enough for her to start walking to the door, but every time she got close he shut the door right in her face! He thought this was the best game ever! Fortunately our dog is VERY good-natured and just went along with his little game ;)

Family - Part 1

I love family. I'm the youngest of 5 although most of the time it feels like I only have one sister and brother (her husband). I feel so fortunate that I have one sister who I have such a wonderful relationship with. Our family is...well, it's kind of like the Brady Bunch with a twist. Both of my parents were married before and had two children from previous marriages (1 boy and 1 girl each). When they married each other they adopted me.

There is a HUGE age gap between me and my siblings. I'm talking 18 years between me and the next in line. It makes me kind of sad that when I was growing up only one sister tried to have a "little sister/big sister" relationship with me. The others were always nice of course but didn't seem to care much about me one way of the other. I do understand in a way. I know that the family situation couldn't have been easy for them, but it wasn't my fault. My parents didn't adopt me to take anything away from their other children. The other children were adults by the time they adopted me and my adoption came as a bit of a surprise to them too. It wasn't exactly something they planned to do when they got married, but I'm VERY fortunate that they did adopt me!

I think the reason that I connected so well with that one sister is because she really is a big kid at heart. She didn't mind doing silly things, watching kid movies, blasting Disney songs in the car and singing along. It was like having a sister, best friend and second "fun only" mom all at the same time!

I am so fortunate that I have such a wonderful relationship with her. I really don't know what I would do without her, especially since mom died. Now she's the one I call with all of my weird "mom" type questions. Technically I could be her daughter, she and my (wonderful) brother-in-law were married 2 years before I was born ;)

I honestly don't know why I'm writing any of this. Maybe just to put it out there. Maybe because we've been visiting with a lot of family (including them) recently and now I'm sad that the house is empty other than me and David. Maybe it's just something I needed to talk about. I know that this post is kind of disjointed but I'm just writing as things pop into my head. Probably not the best idea, but it's just one of those things that I feel like I need to do today. Thanks for making it to the end of this crazy post ;)

Anyone with experience in canning food have any suggestions on how to get started? I'm pretty sure we're about to have a TON of ripe tomatoes soon so I want to make tomato sauce and can it for fall/winter but I have never canned anything on my own and haven't helped anyone since I was little. I vaguely remember helping my grandmother put up snap beans.

I'd also love to make some blackberry jam since our backyard is full of them.

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!!!

I was so excited when I was contacted by CSN Stores to do a review! There are so many fabulous products it was really hard to choose. I finally settled on the Combi Hero Highchair in Wasabi and not only it is great, but it arrived in record time! We originally just bought a simple wooden highchair without a tray and it worked for a while, but we needed to upgrade, and upgrade we did!

We have been using Combi Hero Highchair in Wasabi for about a week and this chair is fantastic. It's a highchair and booster seat that has 5 height adjustments and 3 different reclining positions. I love the fact that you can take the seat off and just strap it to a chair, that will come in super handy when we're traveling. I LOVE the Wasabi pattern. It even has a green apple snack tray that matches our green apple fabric in the kitchen perfectly.

Mema and the prunes

My grandmother is amazing. That's really all there is to it. She's over 90 years old, lives on her own, cooks ALL the time, drives, does all of her own shopping, never forgets a birthday and loves her family unconditionally. She's also kind of crazy. Not bad crazy just fun little old lady crazy. I guess it's not so much crazy as it is that she just has no filter. I guess when you're her age you earn the right to say what you think and you just don't care what anyone else thinks. I have stories and maybe someday I'll post them, but most of them use language that I don't feel comfortable using. (Not so much bad words, but more just foul/crude language lol)

Anyway! David and I went up yesterday to visit her for the day. We had a great time! We went to lunch with her friend Dean, had the usual fight over who was going to pay (I won only because I paid the server cash when Mema was arguing with Dean about who was going to pay ;)), then I ran some errands and headed back to her house to visit some more.

Now, if any of you know anyone over the age of 80, you know that not pooping is in their top 10 list of concerns, and Mema, being over 90 is VERY concerned about such matters (as are David's other great-grandparents). So of course, she had to inquire about David's...um, schedule. So I told her that normally he's a once a day pooper, but he actually hadn't gone since Sunday.

*GASP* Well, that is unacceptable! She brought out the prunes. He ate two at dinner and she was very pleased that he liked them. He's had them before at his other great-grandparents house, but honestly, I never buy them. When Mema found out that we didn't have any at home she sent us home with a small bucket full. Not a small baggie or cup. A small bucket. I told her we didn't need to take all of her prunes and I can easily stop at the store and pick some up. But she insisted and said she has plenty because she buys them at Sam's. I didn't even know Sam's carried prunes but then again I've never considered buying them in bulk before.

Mema never lets you leave her house empty handed, but this is the first time I've left with a bucket of prunes. If anyone is in the area feel free to stop on by and have a prune or two. We have plenty.

UPDATE: Mema was please to find out that as of 10am David had taken care of his problem...twice. ;)

I feel like I need to preface this post with an explanation. Before any of you go thinking I'm a bad Mommy I wanted to let you know there most certainly was NOT soda or tea or anything like that in this cup. David is teething so we put a little crushed ice in it and he loved digging around getting it out and eating it. At this point, all of the ice was gone so he was desperately searching for any last piece or drop of water. He finally realized it was gone and was very sad ;)

Wedding Dress Blog Tour

My Wedding Dress...*sigh* I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I loved it, it was beautiful, sparkly, romantic, soft and simple all at the same time...but in another way I almost wish I had tried on a few more gowns and found something else. Something that looked better on me. I feel the same way about the way my hair was fixed on our wedding day. I loved it at the run through, but it didn't look as good on the day of the wedding.

I think, no, I KNOW if my mom had been there it would have been different. I know she would have kept pushing me to look at more dresses rather than be pressured by the lady at the store (who didn't want me to try on more than 3-4...MAX) and she would have made the guy who did my hair fix it the exact way I wanted it. I was so afraid of being "Bridezilla" I'm afraid I let people walk all over me in some areas.

ANYWAY! Here are some pictures of my dress:

Cloth Diapering on the road??

A lot of people think we're crazy for cloth diapering at all much less when we go on trips. But I actually have a (possibly irrational) fear of using disposables especially when we travel! I'm afraid that they will leak, I don't know what to do with the dirty ones when we're on the road, and I just really don't trust them at all. Yes, I'm crazy, but I'm ok with that.

So how exactly do we manage to cloth diaper while driving over 1300 miles in 4 days? Well, we're organized...really organized...

First, I have a bucket for diapers and clothes. We took an assortment of BumGenius AIOs, Rumparooz, Smartipants, Fuzzibunz, Flips and HuggaBunz along with extra Blueberry inserts and hemp doublers and a Imse Vimse swim diaper. Under the pirate towel are his clothes and swim suits.

Second, a basket with wipes (cloth and *gasp* disposable), foaming wipe solution, pail powder, a sample packet of Rockin' Green Hard Rock and a few extras.

Third, we take two FABULOUS Planet Wise hanging wet/dry bags.

Since we stayed with family for part of the trip we simply did laundry there which made things a lot easier. I took one of our Pressa Drying Hangers from IKEA which is great because it's small and compact but works really well for diapers!

I really do think that cloth diapering anywhere is very doable! If you haven't tried it, you should really give it a shot on your next road trip. If you're nervous you can always take disposable back ups, but it really isn't as hard as you may think...and just think, if you don't buy that pack or two of disposables you can put the money towards a dinner out or a night at the movies!

How many of you enjoy cleaning your showers everyday? None? I thought so. Personally I want to go at least a few days (if not a week lol) between cleanings. Perhaps that's lazy, but I have other things to clean and would really love to be able to put off cleaning the shower if possible...BUT who wants to bathe in a dirty shower? Yuck!

I think I have found a solution!!

Cleaning Part 1: Application
If you're used to having a pump spray this would be fantastic! We normally use the Scrubbing Bubbles Foaming Bathroom Cleaner, so this didn't seem much easier to apply, both are super easy :-D

Cleaning Part 2: Waiting
I didn't have to wait long at all. I let it sit about 5 minutes but I don't even think that long was necessary. One thing to note, it says to make sure the area is ventilated...they're not kidding. Turn on the fart fan people, it is some seriously strong stuff. It doesn't smell bad, just strong (and we have a fairly large bathroom).

Cleaning Part 3: Wipe Away
It's seriously just as easy as wiping everything down with a damp cloth or sponge. No scrubbing at all! It took MAYBE 2 minutes to wipe and rinse everything and the shower looks brand new! SOOO EASY!

Are you suffering from baby name regret?

Sounds funny huh? Most people I talk to just simply can't imagine their kids being named anything else but their name, but apparently according to this Bounty.com article that I stumbled upon one in five parents regret what they named their kids!

The weird thing about the names (to me) is that they are "normal" names. I don't see anything wrong with them personally. It's not like some names that I've come across that honestly look like someone just sat on a keyboard and decided that was a good name or pulled a TOTALLY random word out of the dictionary or Bible. That's not saying that unique is bad. Unique is great! But just remember to test the name first. Pretend that child is an adult and read this like as if a newscaster were reporting on it: "Today the Vice President, [enter name here] gave an update of the status of..."

Rockin’ Green Detergent Review and GIVEAWAY!!

OK, I admit it. We have been having some issues with diaper stink. I know just about every cloth diapering family faces this, but I was in denial about it ever happening to us. I did everything I was told. Washed with Rockin’ Green Classic Rock every other day, started with a cold wash (no detergent), followed by a hot wash (with detergent), and ending with one or two cold rinses. Then we hung the pockets to dry and dried the AIOs and inserts in the dryer.

David is almost a year old and we just recently started having stink issues so I guess we’ve done pretty well, but it bothered me…a lot. I tried everything. Washing over and over to get rid of residue, soaking in Rockin’ Green for hours (even overnight once), drying in the sun and nothing seemed to help. Whenever I would open the dryer when the inserts were done this wave of hot stink would hit me. It really wasn’t horrible, but it was enough that I knew that something had to be done.

Then I heard that Kim was developing a new formula of Rockin’ Green. Really?!? Something stronger?? Count me in!! As soon as the new scents came out I order three samples. They were bombarded with orders so it did take a little longer to get here than usual, but they arrived! The new packaging is great! No busted bags or leaks, woohoo!

So anyway…of course as soon as it arrived I wanted to try it out. I haven’t rocked a soak yet, but even just washing them in the Hard Rock made a HUGE difference! There’s barely any odor now! I’m sure if I soak them for a few hours it will be completely gone, I just didn’t have time today.

I have to admit, I miss the old scents. I love that the new scents are all natural, but I’m going to miss Cherry Lemonade, Cherry Almond and Monkey Snacks  So far I’ve only tried the Orangevana and honestly I’m not a huge fan. It smells like something orange that my grandmother used to have in her house. I usually love everything orange or citrus scented, but this must smells like a combination of orange and old lady. It’s probably just me because I’ve heard from a lot of other people that they love the Orangevana. Hopefully I’ll like the other two samples better.

Everyone takes things for granted and I know I am guilty of this too. I truly try to be grateful for everything that I have. I know that I am SO fortunate to have a wonderful husband and beautiful son as well as a sweet family. I am very blessed and I know that while there may be things that I want, I don’t need anything. I have my family, food and shelter, which is much more than so many in the world.

Knowing that I have so much and want for so little makes me feel guilty sometimes.

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. It’s my first official Mother’s Day as a new mom, but it’s bittersweet. I am thrilled to be able to celebrate with my husband and baby boy, but I never thought I wouldn’t be able to celebrate my first Mother’s Day without my mom.

My mom passed away in January 2008, a year and a half before David was born. She didn’t get to celebrate with us when we found out that I was pregnant. She didn’t get to see the ultrasounds or hear his heartbeat. She didn’t get to visit us in the hospital right after he was born. She never got the chance to hold him, see him smile, roll over or crawl. She didn’t get to hear him laugh or cry. And he will never get to meet her here on earth. I can’t call her up and ask for advice or just to talk. We can’t go on road trips together and laugh so hard we pee or even get into arguments over silly little things that really don’t matter. I can’t tell her “I love you and I’ll see you soon.”

Sorry for rambling, but I just want to remind everyone to be thankful for your mom. Remind her tomorrow that you love her and how special she is to you. Thank her for everything she has done for you and loving you always.

1st Birthday Party Ideas??

David's first birthday is coming up in exactly ONE month! First of all, I can believe that he's almost one...Second, I have NO idea what we're going to do for his birthday!

I've mentioned before that I really wanted to use the Meri Meri Animal Parade set, but unfortunately I can't find anyone with the whole kit available. I haven't been able to find anything else that I like! I know I'm just being picky, but it's his first birthday and I want it to be cute (but not spend beaucoups of money lol). Everything that I've seen out there has bright primary colors and just looks cheap and/or cheesy.

Anyone have any ideas?!? I'm running out of time lol

Don't you hate those nights when everyone in the house is sound asleep but you are WIDE awake? Please tell me I'm not alone in having nights like that...

Last night was one of those nights. It was MISERABLE! I should have gotten up and done something productive, but our house isn't really big enough to do much of anything without waking someone up.

It's not a fun feeling to look at the clock and see:

FINALLY I got to sleep and my sweet wonderful husband went into work a little late so I could sleep in a bit this morning.

I have things I need to be doing now (while Lil Bit is napping) but I'm sooo tired I'm just not motivated to get anything done.

Anyway!! Moving on, my dad called around 10am and said he was on his way down and should be stopping by around noon. WHAT?!? A little more notice than that would have been nice, but that's ok. I'm glad he came down to visit and play with Lil Bit for a while.

One of his main reasons for visiting was to bring me "my" birthday present (it's on Thursday! Woohoo!).

OK, so "my" birthday present turned out to be for my husband. Don't get me wrong, I am VERY grateful! It's a great lawn mower and it should make things a lot easier for hubby, but I was kind of hoping for something a little less...well lawn mower-ish. Oh well, it's the thought that counts right? ;)

A little background...

I'm not sure how many of my followers know this, but before I became a wife and mommy I was (and still am technically) a professional Interior Designer. Poor laptop

So I made a dumb decision the last time the last time I had to buy a cable for my laptop. I bought a CHEAP one from eBay. Big mistake! I started having problems immediately...as in within a few weeks but the seller (of course) was not helpful in the least. Fortunately the cable lasted about a year, but it is now officially dead. It literally fell apart tonight. Thankfully, I had already ordered a new one (from Amazon this time Original HP DV1000 DV5000 DV6000 AC ADAPTER CHARGER) but I selected the cheapest shipping so who knows when it will get here.

Since I don't and won't have access to my computer for a while I'm so glad I have my phone!! Thankfully we do have a few other computers at the house (we're kind of nerdy like that) but I won't have access to all of my pictures and my bookmarks which makes me sad.

Fitted Diaper Suggestions?

I'm pretty sure that there are other cloth diapering mommies out there that read/follow my blog so I'm talking to you ladies specifically.

I really need some suggestions on fitted diapers. When our son was little we used BumGenius bamboo fitteds all the time. I mean ALL the time! I had a lot of x-small, small and mediums, but hadn't gotten around to buying any large yet. By the time I realized that they had discontinued them I couldn't find them anywhere. I was SOO disappointed! They were super soft and amazingly absorbent!

So now what? I really would love to find some bamboo fitteds out there that are just as soft and absorbent as the BumGenius.

Here's what I'm looking for ideally, but if you've found something that you LOVE please let me know!

- I prefer snaps since David has figured out how to take off his velcro diapers, but with a fitted it's not as much of a big deal, I'll just make sure to put a cover with snaps over it ;)
- One piece enclosed. I don't mind if it takes longer to dry, I just don't want to have to put something together or have weird inserts flapping around to get twisted, fall out or get grabbed and thrown around while I'm trying to diaper a squirmy little boy who wants to play.
- SOFT! I have a few fitteds that started out great but after a few washes they became stiff and just don't seem comfortable at all anymore.
- Won't break the bank. I don't want to spend over $15-$17 for a fitted. Anything higher just seems like it's too much to pay for something less than an AIO or pocket with insert included.

Am I asking too much? Was BumGenius the ONLY company that made a fitted like that?
